About the Image:
Utilizing images of an incomplete working scale model(via cementlandarchive.com), satellite imagery of the site after work had stopped (2012), and numerous online photographs-- I created a 3D model of the site as it might have been at completion.
The model and illustration represent an attempt to depict the site as it was meant to be built, taking in all information at hand.
*Note the asterisk after Cassilly's name --nevertheless much of the model was unfinished, particularly in places that were being used to store building materials. In these areas, I attempted to interpret/infer/imagine the rest(about 10%) of the landscape noting Cassilly's obsessions throughout (pyramids, castles, unconventional traversing of the landscape, reuse of site specific artifacts, etc), and searching among the images of the building materials themselves for inspiration.
RIP Bob Cassilly. Viva Cementland.
